About Jan & JD Designs

Duke (in blue) and Sassy
A veteran of the jewelry industry, Jan has used her fashion design/stylist background to develop a niche specializing in custom designed jewelry, redesign of existing jewelry and new engagement, wedding rings and special occasion jewelry. Her creativity, attention to detail and use of new and reclaimed diamonds, gemstones and pearls has drawn a broad following extending to second and third generations as well as celebrity, corporate and non-profit clients.
Jan’s passion is to take something old and give it new life without sacrificing its sentimental value, be it re-finishing a great aunt’s engagement ring for a new bride, creating new earrings using sapphires and diamonds from both grandmothers or simply converting a favored earring to a treasured ring. She always sees the beauty lurking just beneath the surface.
“I first learned the business in my family’s jewelry store years ago. We designed, produced and repaired all kinds of jewelry there in the store. Those years taught me first hand all that goes into the production of custom designed jewelry.”
Jan’s life away from her store is full of fun activities with her two sweet Chihuahuas, Duke and Sassy. She is also a Life Member, Houston Livetosck Show & Rodeo–Wine Committee.
Professional memberships include Jewelers of America, Women’s Jewelery Association, Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America and Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association.
Billy
We all know the quote, “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Before I met my husband Billy, I always disagreed with that sentiment, assuming there would be an unbearable hurt after that love was lost. Well, I now know what the writer meant. I wouldn’t give anything for the past and best 3 ½ years of my life that Billy gave me. And this love is not lost. He just went on ahead of me.
